Is Country Club membership rising in popularity or declining?
Just like everything else it depends where the country club is located. These days as we near the end of 2007 ,  countries that are growing by leaps and bounds are seeing Golf and the Country Club elite growing in popularity. In 2003, country club membership prices had risen by as much as 10 per cent, fuelled by increased optimism in both the economy and the stock market. China, Brazil,Japan,India are all seeing great economic growth. 

Brokers say the average prices of some top club memberships have gone up by as much as $8,000 in this short space of time. Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) widely regarded as Singapore's most prestigious club, cut membership transfer fees from $40,000 to $30,000.

The initiation fee alone for the Los Angeles Country Club is $80,000. Besides an initiation fee of $35,000 and annual dues of $4,900, the Baltusrol Golf Club requires entrants to buy a $10,000 club-issued bond. At about a third of the golf and country clubs--where fees are highest--members can retrieve initiation fees when they resign. Sometimes, they can even earn a premium on the sale of their membership.
 Financier David Murdoch's Sherwood Country Club outside Los Angeles may have the steepest initiation fee at $150,000, it didn't make the top 70 in the Sibbald survey.

When we were first invited to join the Orinda country club, me and my wife were more than a bit skeptical. You see, we were not brought up with country clubs, and had the negative associations with them that a lot of people share in this country. Country clubs are often thought of as places that are uptight, snobby, and not with the times, but nothing could be further from the truth. When we first got there, we were treated to a country club golf art gallery that had hints of both the traditional and the modern. There were also many tasteful artworks on a variety of different themes which had been purchased by the exclusive club over the years. But the decor, though tasteful, was not the highlight of the place. There was much more to see!

There was an excellent 18 hole golf course at this country club, on par with any place I had ever played before. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and the company. The friends who had invited us there were charming people, and they introduced us to a few of their friends. I have never made friends with people so quickly! Apparently, country club people are my kind of people! And the food they served there was out of this world. Although it was a pretty casual lunch – sandwiches, fruit, and that sort of thing – it was really tasty! The cooks that the country club employed could make even simple food taste better! Ever since then, we have been coming back almost every week, and we have never had a bad time there. Sometimes, it is nice to be proven wrong.

Army Navy Country Club A Unique Country Club  

ANCC is a private, member-owned recreation facility founded in 1924.  The Club draws its membership primarily from active duty and retired commissioned U.S. military officers.  These officers represent all services and range in rank from Second Lieutenant and Ensign to General and Admiral.  ANCC is also home to a number of civilian members many of whom have served in our nation's government.

500 or so acres of greenery and wooded landscape at sites in Arlington and Fairfax, Virginia, the Army Navy Country Club challenges the golfer with 54 championship holes; 6 swimming pools; a new state of the art fitness center and golf and tennis pro shops.  The dining facilities are excellent with the ability to serve an intimate dinner for two or catering an event for several hundred people.The members of this ever-growing group of big political donors coming from every segment of the nation's economy: Their products fill our kitchen cabinets, bathroom shelves and gas tanks.They keep watch over and invest our money. Health care moguls, entertainment industry big wigs and TV Execs and of coarse sports teams we are fans of gather at the private country club. deals are made during leisure hours of a friendly game of golf. That is the way of the world.
